Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Importance of Annual Screening
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a good time to think about your health and schedule your yearly mammogram. A mammogram is an exam that checks your breasts for any changes. It can find problems before you feel them.
Finding breast cancer early helps doctors treat it more easily. Most women should start mammograms around age 40. If you have family members who had breast cancer, your doctor may want you to start sooner.
If you have put off your mammogram, now is a good time to make an appointment. Your doctor or clinic can help you schedule a visit and answer any questions you have.
