SIDS and RSV Awareness Month: Protecting Your Baby
October is SIDS
and RSV Awareness Month. These are health risks that can affect babies,
especially under one year old.
SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, happens when a baby dies suddenly during
sleep. You can lower the risk by placing your baby on their back to sleep,
using a firm mattress, and keeping soft items out of the crib.
RSV, or Respiratory Syncytial Virus, is a common virus that can make babies
very sick. Wash your hands often, keep sick visitors away, and ask your doctor
if your baby should get the RSV shot.
You are your baby’s best protector. Talk to your doctor if you have questions
or concerns about keeping your baby safe.
