Community Conversations: Helping Our Students through the COVID-19 Pandemic

On May 4, 2021, Greater Houston area education experts joined our fourth Community Conversations live event discussing the far-reaching impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on students.

For this panel, we were joined by

  • Tysheka McKinnie, Assistant Principal, Goodman ACE Elementary School, in the Aldine Independent School District
  • Adeeb Barqawi, President and CEO of ProUnitas, a Texas nonprofit connecting students for life resources. Adeeb was a physics teacher at Kashmere High School in Northeast Houston
  • Matt Barnes, co-founder and parent coach for The Education Game, helping parents equip their students as learners, and a longtime educational leader, and
  • Moderator Jaundrea Clay, reporter and editor at the Houston Chronicle, and founding editor of HouWeAre, the Chronicle’s newsletter examining the intersection of race, identity and culture in Houston.
