Community Health Choice CEO Lisa Wright makes guest appearance on KHOU Great Day Houston
On Monday, April 8, President and CEO Lisa Wright appeared on KHOU’s Great Day Houston program to discuss Community’s vision of ensuring every Texan has access to healthcare across one’s full life cycle, and to build awareness around the various plans Community offers.
Sitting down with Great Day’s host Deborah Duncan, Lisa acknowledged that insurance selection can be an overwhelming and confusing process for many people, but that Community helps “sort through the noise.” She highlighted Community’s ability to help Members navigate over two hundred different Marketplace plans that serve individuals all the way from STAR Medicaid, CHIP-P for the unborn to Medicare and Medicaid for seniors.
Lisa also shared that on September 1, 2024, Community will begin offering STAR+PLUS coverage, which provides extended benefits to those with disabilities and individuals over the age of 65. Benefits of STAR+PLUS coverage include assistance with daily living, making homes safer and easier to navigate, easing the burden of caregivers with short-term breaks, and even providing some in-home care options. With this new contract, Community will be able to meet the unique needs of Houston’s elderly population.
Community strives for positive patient outcomes, works to remove barriers to quality healthcare, and offers some of its Members community college resources, rental assistance, transportation, and many more non-direct healthcare-related resources. As Lisa emphasized, “it’s not just about physical and mental health, it’s also about the social aspect,” noting the variety of benefits offered also includes family events, classes, and healthy living tips.
Ultimately, assistance navigating health insurance coverage can be a lifesaving resource. Community proudly provides that assistance to improve the well-being and peace of mind of Texans and their families. Community Cares.
